I recently discovered an old documentary on YouTUbe that dealt with much of this. It showed the whole history of old Tibet before China invaded. It showed how the Tibetans that were devoted lived in "monastery cities" in a sense. Where all the people there lived by the Dharma path together the men and women and children. They had schools and put on plays and everything all within the Dharmic path in accordance to the teachings.
It specified their appreciation for art, and performance, and how that is a vehicle through which we can reached the high mind of God, the Buddha. Something that resonated with me when I came into the teachings of "Shingon" Buddhism specifically.
My personal philosophy consists of two parts. One being what I call hotepism - the proper way for being ... which is devotion to the immense goddess, Maat, or Kali, or Shiva Medusa. Or simply the Dharmic path itself. As the path to attaining Buddhahood, or the way of being in accordance.
I believe that through honoring the Dharmic path in the way of hotepism - as the proper for way being, that we can attain a state of what I call "universal heritage" as to what you have described here ... a heritage of the true way that belongs to us all, and not simply the devoted dogmatists of tradition.
Another similarity I saw from this was the way Bruce Lee in his walking of the divine path. Created a form of martial arts that focused on achieving the Dharmic way in mind through the arts, and overtime his teachings became merely another "style" that taught how to fight like Bruce Lee. Which wasn't the same revolutionary intent he had when he invented the Jeet Kune Do School. Always great getting your posts. Ashe.
"The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment" is the starting point. However, the “real works” encompass much more, though they currently lack proper English translations and corresponding explanations. We are working on this.
Master Tsongkhapa, a true hero of wisdom and strength, founded the Gelug school, whose teachings and practical guidance truly inherit the Buddha’s doctrine and compassionate spirit, strictly adhering to the precepts taught by the Buddha, restoring light with clear and systematic order.
A bright lamp for sentient beings in the last days, a stream of clarity—may it bring you coolness and wisdom!

I am hoping to see a similar path emerge in my Christian tradition.
